Best Hiking Pee Bottles
Best Pee Bottles For Hiking, Camping & Mountaineering
This is the night before your summit, and you are lying awake in your tent. Your tent mate is fast asleep near you. Adrenaline and nervous energy made it difficult for both of you to sit down after dinner, especially when you entered at 7:30 pm The northwestern Pacific sun was still just above the horizon. To wake up very early you knew it was right around the corner. But after chatting for a while, you finally managed to get a good night’s sleep with the screams of the wind blowing on the Ingram flats.
Move fast yet. You lie there motionless, cursing yourself for being so diligent about hydration at dinner. Two hot drinks seemed like a good idea at the time. I mean, which cup of soup and hot cocoa to choose? Not you, that’s for sure. But why, oh why, didn’t you just make another trip to a specific area of urine before going out at night? It’s getting dark now, and the thought of stepping out of your bag and wearing pants, boots, and two coats is just as tempting to urinate in the freezing cold as putting your head in a bucket of ice water. Not only that but Ingraham Glacier’s light slope (for those Instagram-worthy shots of Litle Tahoma that you took earlier!) Risks a dangerous slide in the abyss waiting just below the camp. Not surprisingly, if you need to leave the tent at night, your guides shout to wake them up.
Then there is option two, which you are seriously considering right now, lying here badly for the next 24 hours until it’s time to get up and leave. You will get ready really quickly and go out to urinate in front of someone else. Difficult solution. Now find a place to rest where gravity is not working so much on your dangerously full bladder.
Why do we like urine bottles and urine skins?
In a nutshell, the basis of this story is 100% accurate! Keeping your urine bottle / funnel skills and equipment (as needed on the urine funnel) with you can be extremely helpful for a number of reasons:
Safety No need to stumble across dark, unfamiliar, potentially fruitful areas. Remember that safe, soft snow can solidify at night, offering a vibrant and dangerous surface!
The care of others. No shelter doors, unzipping, letting cool air in (entering and exiting!) Your tent mates will thank you!
More sleep Better rest means better physical performance, because dehydration is not an option to avoid urinating at night.
Relax. You never leave the heat of your tent, don’t take off your cold shoes, and go to bed early. Be honest. We all sleep better with empty bladders.

Why bring a bottle of urine when camping?
Not every pedestrian needs a bottle of urine but I have found them a very valuable luxury item. Stopping to urinate at night actually affects your body temperature. Urinating will actually warm you up and give you a good night’s sleep. That’s why I always carry a bottle of urine with me when hiking and camping. The more you walk or climb in a remote or cold area, the more valuable it will be.
